My Morningstar MC8 Pro is sending Morningstar ML10x Messages to my Fryette ZMACS amp and cabinet switcher.
I am running the ML10x and ZMACS to different midi outs on the MC8 pro. I am using two ZMACs units that are linked by the midi thru. I have removed all other midi devices for now.
The ML10x is a loop switcher. It has specific SysEx messages to toggle loops, specific pedals, and presets. When the ML10x Messages feature is used you can set the ML10x to “Ignore Midi”
Whenever I try to use the ML10x messages to toggle a pedal or select a present, the amp and cabinet selection on my ZMACS changes. The amp and cabinet selection also changes when I turn the MC8 Pro on without making any selection when I am using ML10x messages instead of PC or CC messages. So far, it seems the same amp and cab selection are “selected” regardless of the ML10x Message that I have used.
No matter the ports I use, the ML10x messages affect the ZMACs.
I had success using CC messages to make selections on the ML10x, but this limits what I am able to do with the ML10x.
Is there a way to stop the ZMACs from receiving these messages? I would like to use the full capabilities of the ML10x, but do not want to have my amp and cabinet selection change everytime I select a different pedal.
I am using V1 ZMACS units. The serial numbers are ZMA250157 and ZMA250160.
I have not used PC messages with the ML10x. Only the Morningstar ML10x Messages and CC messages.
When I go to program the MC8 Pro midi controller and utilized the Morningstar ML10x Messages, it states “These messages are SysEx message. If you are passing the messages through other devices before reaching the ML10X, please check that the can pass SysEx messages through. For example, HX Stomp does not pass SysEx messages through, so if your ML10X is connected after the HX Stomp, it will not receive any ML10X messages.”
The ZMACS units and ML10X are not connected. I have the ZMACS and the ML10X using different midi out ports on the MC8 Pro so I do not understand the ML10X Messages to be “passing through” the ZMACS or that the ML10X is “connected after” the ZMACS.
I reviewed that thread and from what I can gather that is applicable to my situation, it seems that it if I run the CME H2Midi device between the MC8 Pro and ZMACS I can filter out other messages and only allow the midi channel I use for my ZMACS PC messages to go through.
If that is incorrect or I would need a different device (or anything else), please let me know. Appreciate your help as always!
