Hello, my PS2 has literally sat in one place unmoved for six or seven years. I recently moved and when I picked the unit up, I could hear something was rattling inside. It appears a piece of porcelain or glass structure has just randomly broke inside and I needed to know what broke and or how to get it repaired. I don’t wanna turn it on again not knowing what broke.
Hi PaulRock90 and welcome to the forum,
I think we have the same carpet.
You are right not to turn the unit on. This is apart of a 10W power resistor. I’m sure you opened the unit to get that out. Can you find the corresponding location inside the unit where this came from? It would be good to see if there is anything else damaged and to know where it came from – if possible. Then we can figure out the best way to help you and get this fixed.
Hi Dan, it’s nice carpet! ![]()
I can’t see anywhere where these pieces would’ve came from. Any help to point me in the right direction?
Hey Dan, I’ve tried to send a few emails but they keep getting rejected, did you get any of my follow up messages?
I think they are here… when I click replies, I can see them.
you can reply by email and it adds it to the post there, I think.
Messages received.
Yes, I cannot see any damage either, so it must be hidden.
I’d recommend getting it serviced; if you are in the USA, you can ask for an RMA following this process. If you are international, then let me know; we have a different procedure. How can I send my product to Fryette for a repair (RMA Request)?
Hey Dan, can I please get an MRA started to ship this back. I’m located in Denver Colorado.
Good morning,
I sent my PS2 in for repair several weeks under this MRA. How do I find starts updates?
Hi Paul,
Your unit is in repair right now. The wire wound resistor that was broken is under one of the boards. You won’t see it in the pictures. It’ll be done soon. We do have a repair queue. It was started last Thursday along with a few large amplifiers in for service that were ahead of you in line. Sorry for the wait.
Thank You,
Terry
Hello, any status update would be greatly appreciated
Hi Paul,
I replied to your message yesterday about the status of your unit. There is a queue and process of checking and repairing units as they come in. Once the unit is tested, repaired, and then goes through QC, we contact you to let you know what is going on.
General Repair & Maintenance
*Replace damaged resistor. ← This has been done
-Perform applicable updates. ← This has been done
-Bench test and check all functions. ← This is the last thing to be done
We don’t send units back out without checking everything. It would be a disservice to you to do that. I apologize for the wait but it’ll be worth it. We are working as fast as possible and appreciate your patience. We don’t send out daily status updates.
Thank You,
Terry
Thank you for the update Terry. I appreciate it. I must’ve missed your reply yesterday. That’s why I replied again today.
Hi paul,
Totally understand. We’ll get your unit back to you quickly.
Thank You,
Terry
