PS-2A power output at lower levels

Hello

My PS-2A is on order and will hopefully ship later this week.

While I wait I had a QQ.

I have a <50W 212 cab (40W) and would like to know a ballpark max I can get set the output volume so I will not blow a speaker or 2 with the understanding that I am taking a risk and accepting that risk.

On that same note, would it be a good idea to connect more than cabinet to help reduce the risk? Or does that not matter?

Thanks Calis.

I saw this a while back. I do not have a head <50W currently. I used this cab with an AC15 AND sometimes a BF Showman (85W) at low volume. I sold both. It survived the BF but I only did that a few times. It sounded too good. Again a low volume.

So I do not a head to test this way.

Got it. So, I assume you are using a preamp or some type with it instead and using the PS-2A as strictly power amp? What are you using (eg modeler, preamp / Synergy system)?

correct.

i have several preamps including a Quad-X which does a great fendery clean IMO. also have a kemper, various tube heads 50, 60 and 100W.

this 40W cab is a vintage 60s 212 PA cab with original Jensens.

however i only plan to use that 40W cab with a preamp and maybe Kemper and the PS-2A for power in those applications at least ATM.

i have other cabs that can handle >50W for my Legacy, Dual Rec, JCM800…

i just pulled the back off of this old Bogen cab. it is 2 Jensen C12PS speakers with Datecode 220723 (57/67 I guess). I think I got the wattage a little off. These supposedly can handle 25-30W. So I am on the cusp and think I should be ok.

They are 8 ohms in series so 16ohm cab.

As mentioned I used them with an 85W Blackface (that I sold and wish I hadn’t) and was careful.

I will make sure to not to go full throttle with the PS-2A.

BTW for any Fender people who may not have heard this speaker, it sounds fantastic IMO.

Good deal. Thanks for the update.
