I just got a 240V version today and was playing it for an hour and then had the failure that seems to relate to the bad batch of tubes. Started sounding boxy, got quiet, one tube glowing very red, then pop and nothing. Still powers on and light turns on and fan goes. Internal fuse looks to be blown. External fuse (one that is spring loaded and accessed with a flathead) looks fine.
I already have a 110V version that I am using with a step-down transformer and that has been working fine. Bought the 240V version to lighten the load for gigs…
The question is, can I just swap the tubes and internal fuse from the 110V version into the 240V one whilst waiting for parts?
So sorry to hear that! If you bought it new from a supplier, then we should both talk with them to see if they can get you a replacement set of tubes sent out quickly. If you are in New Zealand, that might be a better option than shipping out to you from the factory. Please follow these instructions and request a new set of power tubes and internal fuses: How can I make a replacement part request? This will start the process, and we will get your replacement tubes out to you one way or another; Gil will be able to help you with that.
But in the meantime, yes, you can swap out the good tubes and internal fuses (note, the external fuses are specific to different voltage units—so don’t swap those).
OK,
Apologies again, I hope you can sort this for you as soon as possible. You should hear from someone usually in about a day or two. Any doubts, post here, and yes, please do report back!
