My new Power Station PS-100 blew the first week

The unit had about 4 hours of use spread over the course of 5 days. I noticed it was running excessively hot. Right before it blew, I noticed the tube on the left (when facing the front of the amp) had a super bright red/orange glow. At the point, a very high pitch sound came through my speaker cab, and then a loud pop sound. I quickly powered off the unit. I could not touch the unit for a few minutes due to the excessive heat. Hopefully this unit did not damage anything else in my system: that sound that came through my cab, the cables conected to the unit (they were hot when I unplugged), or the Soldano head the unit was sitting on.

Hi Chad, Very sorry to hear about the issue with your PS-100. That is most definitely a power tube failure. This would not cause any damage to your amp, cab or cables. Please send an email to support@fryette.com and include the date of purchase, serial number, and your shipping address and phone number. We can send you replacement power tubes and an internal fuse or we can issue you an RMA and shipping label to get the unit sent back to us for service. Thanks! Gil

Thank you! I will send a persona email to the email address you provided.

Gil, just sent an email and I got an automated email saying I have ‘invalid access’ and my email was rejected.

Hi @Chadf80 welcome! You are in the right place.

“Invalid access” is a site bug that I am trying to fix. Your email definitely did arrive; Gil just told me

I know it is not exactly very discoverable, but the FAQ for making parts requests mentions it.

Hi @1Desperado,

I’m really sorry you have had this experience! This is a tube failure and, as you noticed, has been happening a lot. We are working with our tube supplier; they have identified the problem. The fix is for us to send you replacement tubes and fuses free of charge. To start that process, please follow these instructions: https://forum.fryette.com/t/how-can-i-make-a-replacement-part-request/866
