Has anyone seen the impedance setting change very briefly when switching between amps?
I was comparing three amps today selecting between 1, 2, and 3…and sporadically the impedance indicator on the amp side would jump from 16 (where I have them set for all three amps) very briefly to 4 or 8 and back to 16. It was only the LED indicator as I didn’t hear the relay “click” that occurs when you change settings.
Is this something I should be concerned about that the actual impedance the amp is seeing is changing very briefly? Or is it just the indicator light?
What you’re discribing can happen in rare cases. It can be triggered by things like static discharge, external interference or very brief control-line noise. As you noted, there’s no relay click and thus the load the amp is seeing never actually changes. In these instances it’s only the indicator LED momentarily changing state, so the amplifier is completely safe.
If it’s only happening sporadically and only on the indicator (as you described), there’s no cause for concern. If you ever do hear the relay clicking unexpectedly or notice audible changes, that would be the time to reach out. But based on your description, everything is operating normally.
