I want to record my own amplifier head to my DAW and just noticed that the GPDI/IR also has a reamp which would be useful for me. I was considering the PL-IR before and was wondering if the GPDI-IR can do everything that the PL-IR can do. Please advise!

The GPDI-IR is a guitar amplifier with built in IR’s. It can be used to add a channel to an existing amplifier as well. The PL-IR is a load box with built in IR’s. The GPDI-IR is meant to be used as an amplifier/preamplifier and doesn’t have the capabilities of being a load box for your amplifier. The PL-IR can however. If you want the sound of your amplifier with IR’s. The PL-IR is the right choice. If you are looking for a different sound and don’t want to purchase another head or combo, the GPDI-IR is an incredibly versatile solution.
