What is the input impedance of the 2/90/2?

Hi @lincolnmcgregor89

What an oddly specific question

The inputs are line-level, so they are forming an impedance bridge with the low output impedance of the driver (pre-amp). The actual impedance is not crucial as long as is it much larger than the source impedance, this could be as low as 1000 Ohms or higher than 10,000 Ohms.

Hey Dan,

Been wanting to wrap my head around the best methods for driving my 2/90/2 with preamp pedals.

Does your response above mean that if I have a preamp pedal with an output impedance of 100 Ohms – this may not be sufficient for use with the 2/90/2?

Thank you!

Hi @pansyflowerpot

No that is actually perfect. At line level we only care about voltage transfer from the output to input. To get maximum voltage transfer the output impedance should be as low as possible and the input impedance should be as high as possible. This is called impedance bridging.

100 ohms output impedance is excellent.

That’s awesome! I am unsure if the output of this preamp is considered line level or instrument level… The one I am looking at is a Darkglass Luminal Booster Ultra: Luminal Booster Ultra – Darkglass Electronics

Do I also need to be worried about a cable run from my pedalboard into the power amp input? It may be 20-25 feet of instrument cable run.

Thank you for your help!

Hi

Looks good to me, the manual says it can go in front of your amp or on pedal board. So versatile.

There is not much you can do regarding cables, guitar is a single ended output.

Just get it and see!

Dan
