Hey just wondering if anyone knows if the old VHT branded Fatbottom 2x12s are stereo like the newer ones. Mine has two jacks on it so I’m hopeful.
Thanks!

It’s not, I’ll give you my VHT 4x12 for your 2x12.
No but in all seriousness, they can be operational in stereo, IIRC 8ohm mono and 4ohm stereo. It’s best to check with a multimeter just to be safe.
Awesome, thanks! How do I check with a multimeter?
does the jack plate have a switch? if it doesn’t have a switch, I would be very surprised if the cab was “hardwired” stereo. more than likely the two jacks are wired in parallel
Nope, no switch - that’s what I was trying to figure out ![]()

if you want to know for sure, take two speaker cables, and for each one, plug one end into each jack, and leave the other end free. measure the resistance from the tip of one cable to the tip of the other. for a parallel wiring (as expected) it should be close to 0 ohms. for stereo wiring (which would be very weird and would mean someone rewired it) it would be an open circuit.
Hello All,
I recommend removing the plate and verifying the wiring on the inside with a flashlight. Check the plate wiring, and then verify whats going where. If they are switching jacks, one input will be carried to the switched portion of the other jack. That way it disconnects the “mono” input from the “stereo” input when there is a plug in the jack.
If you can take a picture of the inside of the jack plate, we can tell very quickly.
If you purchased the cabinet secondhand, always verify the wiring before using it.
I hope this helps.
Thank You,
Terry
