Due to the inconsistency and reliability issues that have been plaguing modern tube production, I’ve been wondering more and more about using the Verellen Devices Octals in my D120 MK2 the next time I’m due to replace the KT88s.
Interesting idea, not heard of them before. At that prices it’s just buy two of vacuum tubes. Tubes are fine, yes they wear out, but if they survive the first 24 hours chances are they will run fine for years.
Im not looking to switch immediately or anything, mostly just wondering about compatibility. I’d prefer to keep using tubes, I’ve just found KT88s to be really inconsistent in terms of reliability lately. Hopefully that improves, but if not, these look like a promising alternative
There is a note that mentions of using more than 500V then ensure tubes are fan cooled. This is the case if Power Station. Honestly there is no way for us to know, we would have to do an evaluation. But going off what they say they appear to be compatible.
