Using one channel in stereo mode

Can the 2/50/2 be run with just the A channel for 50 watt mono? I don’t always need 100 watts of tube power.

Welcome to the forum!

Sure. Just leave the unused channel on standby and the volume on zero.
No need to connect a cab to the unused channel.

Dave

That’s what I needed. Thanks Dave!

Follow up queston, I have two 8 ohm speakers I want to run on channel A using both channel A outputs (turning my stereo cab into dual mono, each speaker has it’s own cable). Would it stay at 8 ohms or does it need to be set to 4 or 16?

Dave, to follow up on the single cab thread above you wrote “leave the unused channel on standby and the volume on zero” The LXII has only one volume. Where you referring to the input signal volume? And in this scenario no dummy load would be need on channel B?

Hi Gib,

Welcome to the forum!

The original post was a question about the 2/50/2 Stereo Power Amplifier, not the LXII. Dave was speaking specifically about that amplifier series. In the LXII, the signal from Channel A is passed to channel B if there is no plug present in Channel B’s input. So, the best thing to do is use Channel B and keep Channel A in standby. This will keep the amplifier safe without a load while Channel A is in standby. No signal will be sent to that channel. So there won’t be a need for adjusting input signals or anything like that. I hope that helps.

Thank You,

Terry

Hi Ddg,

If you have two 8 ohm cabinets in parallel, it’s 4 ohms. Hope that helps.

Thank You,

Terry
