Hiya,
I have a Sig X and want to send it to an amp tech for them to service. I am hoping to have the tubes changed as part of the service.
I wanted to ask what should I ask my tech to look at and the work they should do in a general service. The sig x is my first tube amp and I don’t know what needs to be checked in a service. Would appreciate everyone’s suggestions or insight to help.
Also, I know that there are recommended tubes to be used in the amp as seen its manual. I wanted to ask if there are specific tube brands that could be used in addition to the Tung Sol or Sovtek ones suggested. I have heard that Golden Lion tubes are premium tubes as well as those from tube amp doctor but I know that they may change the voicing. Also, in some of the other sockets (V2-V6) there is no brand so do I assume that any 12AX7A will do?
Are there any suggestions as to what tubes I should use as well would be appreciated!
