Steve's Test Guitar

What Pickups are in that Hammer Double Cutaway??

He’s mentioned they’re Dimarzios. Something tells me they’re Dimarzio PAFs of some sort but I’m eager to know as well.

Dimarzios that Blucher gave him. I don’t think he knows which model they are.

WHo’s Blucher??

Steve Blucher. He was the lead designer at dimarzio for decades.

U mean Larry D isn’t the man at his own company??

I’m sorry, I was just trying to help some one asking questions. Didn’t realize you are just a troll.

Who’s trolling??
I don’t know shit about Dimarzio even tho I like a lot of the players that use them.. Why would I know who Steve Blo is??
That said, I never wanted to play them. I was always biased to SD’s or EMG’s..

Bur everything’s cool. Light up some aroma therapy and relax..

The guitar was originally fitted with two Seymour Duncan PUs which were a bit on the hot side. Steve wanted a lower output type with black/cream bobbins.

During a conversation about the guitar with Steve Blucher, the chief designer at DiMarzio at the time, and the man responsible for introducing Steve to Page Hamilton of Helmet, Steve described what he was looking for. As was the usual protocol, Blucher said “I’ll send you something”.

That was how it went with those two. Always throwing tips and tricks back and forth and helping each other out.

The bridge PU is a DiMarzio PAF style with a somewhat low output. Steve never asked Blucher for specifics. Blucher just listened and then a box would show up a week later with magic in it.

The original SD bridge PU is supposedly now in the neck position.

This instrument has been the shop test guitar for going on 28 years. Steve likes to tell people he changes the strings religiously every 5 years.

Thanks for that.
So FTMP they are lower output.
Good to know.

Weren’t PAF’s traditionally Alnico 2’s or 5’s??
