Sig:X lost clean channel

Hope this is the right channel - didn’t see a Sig:X one.

I’ve had a used VHT-era Sig:X for about a year and a couple weeks ago my clean channel developed some intermittent crackling before fading out. At first figured it was a V5 tube issue since it was channel specific and a gradual failure - so I ordered a new 7025 for that position - but upon replacement I’ve had no improvement. Next thought was maybe it was the volume pot for the clean channel - but a quick application of some electronic contact cleaner didn’t help.
Coming here to see if anyone has run into similar, or if I should look at getting first-party support.
The clean channel has some - very faint- volume past about 5/10, if that offers any clues. Rhythm and lead channels are behaving perfectly. V5 tube does light up when in use.

Welcome to the forum EllieGo.

The problem is likely going to be a bad plate resistor on V5. It’s a pretty simple fix, but there may also be some updates that could be done.

Where are you located and what’s the serial number of the amp?

Dave

Thanks for the welcome! I’m located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Serial number is very very faded - image attached

The bad news is thaere is no decent tech in your area that we know of. If you have someone qualified (an actual repair business), we can work with them.

The good news is that you’re close enough to reasonably ship the amp here for servicing. What you’ll spend on shipping and our reasonable $75 flat rate service charge (plus parts and return freight), will still probably end up less that the typical local shop spending (and charging for ) way more time that needed to do the work.

If that seems like an option for you, contact support@fryette.com and provide:
Full name,
Address
Phone number.

We’ll reply with an RMA.
