Replacement PS100 Fried Again

My first PS100 lasted about 10 minutes when it got hot, smoked and quit working. I did get the replacement and on the second use after about 30 minutes it mad a loud POP through the amp speaker and quit. It still bypasses but no attenuator. I’m not sure what is going on with these but I’m losing confidence with the product. I’m only turning my EVH 5150 III EL 34 to 5 so it isn’t dimed. The rear fuse is good still but I don’t want to open up for the internal for fear of voiding any warranty.

Hello, Apologies for all of the hassle and inconvenience you are experiencing. There was a batch of power tubes that made it past all of our testing and burn-in procedures but have been failing in customers units. We have since corrected the tube supply issue but many of these made it out to the public. We will send you new power tubes and a fuse which are easy to install and will solve the problem. This is not a fault of the PS-100, it is solely due to the faulty power tubes. Please send an email to support@fryette.com and include the serial number, your shipping address and phone number, and the date and place of purchase. We’ll get you taken care of right away. Thanks! Gil

Gil, I received the new tubes and fuses. Took me about 10 minutes to do the swap and it appears to be working as it should. I’ve only put about 45 minutes on it but so far so good. Thanks for getting the tubes to me.

That’s good news, thanks for letting me know!
