I want to run my 60s Fender Bassman head (4ohm) into an 8ohm cab. Am I correct and safe to select the 2/4ohm on the amp in, and the 8ohm on the speaker out? It will be running almost cranked. Apologies if its a silly question i just want to be sure!

Absolutely, set the amp side to 2/4 Ohms and the cabinet side to 8 Ohms and you are good to go! No silly questions when it comes to safely running your gear.
