PS2A slight glassy rattle

I just got a brand new ps2a that has a slight glassy rattle you can hear when I get some good palm muting going on my down tuned guitars. I can kinda here it if I tap the top of it when it’s off as well. It’s clearly from the bass vibrations at lower tunings but I’m wondering if I need to worry about it or if it’s fine, I’m perfectly capable of ignoring it if it’s normal. Visually nothing seems loose or moving around in the case.

Hi @Kronk and welcome to the forum,

Is this a sound coming through the speakers or just something you hear from the unit? The volume in the room must be very low to hear this. I am wondering if you are hearing the output transformer and inductors? They do vibrate with the audio signal. Try putting selecting warm or flat on the front panel toggle to see if that improves it.

It gets a little worse on warm but improves slightly on flat. If I tap the unit right above the tubes while it’s powered off I can hear it. Its only prominent on high gain even at decent volumes but doesn’t come through the speakers. I usually hear it in the silence following a bassier note palm mute as the vibrations work their way through

OK then, that sounds like vibrations from one of the magnetic components and you can hear it because it’s a silent recording situation. There is not much we can do about that, but it would be really good if you could post an audio recording or YouTube video so I can understand exactly what you are hearing.
