Hi there,
My PS-2 stopped working yesterday. I opened it up and found that the fuse was blown. I changed the fuse, but there’s still no sound. I also tried swapping all the tubes, but still no sound.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Lars

Hi Lars,
Do you see any red glow from the heaters inside the tubes – just trying to understand of there is any power at all?
This might sound repetitive, but I’ve lost count of the number of times this checklist has helped people solve their problems. Follow these steps, one by one, I know you have already done some of them. But get them out of the way.
Please do:
Also Joe’s video on changing tubes and fuses is excellent
If you need to buy new fuses you can find the details here,
Hi Dan
To sum it up:
Readings on the 6L6 tubes are as follows:
What do you think?

Hi Dan
No answer, no help??
I unscrewed the circuit board and fixed the loose connection. Now it works.
poor support
Hi Lars
Congrats on fixing it, sorry I have been working on other area of the business and not spent as much time on forum as normal this week ![]()
Any information on the loose connection? Maybe we should add that to the checklist.
Would you mind sharing which board and which connector you are talking about?
A photo might be good as well.
Also, at which terminals did you connect your probes to get the 217V reading. Was that AC or DC?
Thanks,
Dave
Seems like he took his ball and went home? This would be helpful information as my PS-2A has done the exact same thing. It was working perfectly yesterday morning and when I got to band practice last night it powered on but no sound. I’ve run the entire troubleshooting checklist and the internal fuse is fine.
The typical reasons it might do this are:
Amp In and Speaker Out cables reversed.
Speaker cable connected to the wrong speaker jack (needs to be the top one if not using both).
Something connected to the FX loop that is interrupting sognal flow.
Something connected to the Line In that is interrupting signal flow.
If none of those issues are the cause and you’ve verified preamp tube, power tubes and fuses, then please contact us at support@fryette.com and include:
Full Name
Phone
Address
Unit Serial Number
Place and date of purchase (if purchased new).
If you alreadyy contected us and haven’t received a reply yet, you will shortly.
Thanks,
Dave
