PS-2a Low Muffled Sound from Power Amp

I just got a PS-2a last week, and had been using it seeing if I liked it. Today I went to flip it on, everything powered on just fine, amp speaker out into amp in, speaker out to my cabinet. I can turn up the volume and I can BARELY hear some middle noises of my playing the guitar, but barely. I can turn it all the way up and still the same. If I turn the standby switch off, then I can hear the amp at full power coming through the speakers. Turn the switch back on, and it’s attenuated to nothing basically and muffled. Not sure what’s going on. Please help. It may just go back. Thanks.

Hi @askiles

Go through this NO SOUND check list,

If you still have problems we can take it from there.

It sounds to be like cables are the the issue because the setup works in BYPASS. So there could be an issue with the PS-2A tube amp (or some other complication). But get to the bottom of the list first.

I have done the checklist. Still only muffled sound coming from the cabinet when Stanby is off. With Standby on, I get full un-attenuated sound from the cabinet. So I know it’s not a cable issue, the cables amp and cabinet all work without the PS-2a. The reactive section also works just fine, getting full sound at the line out to my Quad Cortex. I guess it’s going back to where it came from.

Yes, this sounds like an issue with the power section. Do you see the red glow from all three tubes?

Yes, all three are glowing red. The two larger ones, and the small one.

Yes. All 3 are glowing. Is there anything else I can try, or this would have to come back for inspection?
