PS-100 volume very low, cannot even get unity if set at max

Hello,
Just got mt PS-100 and connected to my Fender Twin Reverb (65 re-issue)

It is listed as 85 w @4 ohms
The two 8 ohm speakers are wired in parallel so that should be 4 ohms

So I have amp and speaker cab switches on the PS-100 set to the 2/4 ohm settings
High option selected as my purpose is to attenuate the Twin and its of course a super loud, 85 W amp

Volume is extremely low; wont even hit unity if PS-100 volumes set to max

Can you please advise - do I have a defective unit?

Kindest regards,
Len

Hi Len welcome to the community!

Where and when did you buy your PS-100 and what’s the serial number?

Although you do have sound, trying running through the No Sound checklist here: Power Station: Troubleshooting Guide

Hi Len,

One thing to keep in mind is that there is no requirement that the front panel level switch setting must be set to HI for a high power amp. It is really a convenience setting to allow you to determine how sensitive the Power Station volume control is relative to the volume setting on your amp.

The fact that it may be a high powered amp doesn’t necessarily preclude a low to medium amp volume setting. In other words, there is no “wrong” setting here. The right setting is what works for you.

I would recommend starting with the LO setting. If you find the volume easily manageable and not too finicky to set the way you like it, that’s the way to go.

Cheers,

Dave
