Yes, I agree with everything you write. It does indeed sound like the switching jack of the speaker has detected it is not connected to anything.
If this is working in bypass, then the signal is passing fine through the jack and cable. I would check the “Won’t switch to operate”" section of the troubleshooting guide, then maybe also follow the “no sound” section too. If those steps do not work, then I would recommend a service, or possibly we can continue to discuss more debug options before doing that.
