PS-100 not attenuating!

Hey my name is John, I’m a new member here, and this is my first post. I received my PS-100 from Chuck Levin’s the other day and finally got around to hooking it up just an hour ago.

I followed the instructions provided via Fryette’s website and go to turn it on, and it works! Well so I thought, the operate/bypass switch seems to be stuck because the unit is not attenuating. The volume/presence/depth do not seem to do anything. I tried everything and nothing.

So what’s the next step in the process?

Welcome to the forum!

It would be most helpful to know more detail about what you have hooked up the your new PS-100 including amp (brand/model), cab (brand/model) and cables.

Where are you located?

Also,:

  1. Any hint of potential shipping damage?
  2. Can you look inside the top and observe the power tubes glowing?
  3. Fan operating?
  4. Have you installed a rack kit?

Thanks,

Dave

I have 2 amps I tried it on with the exact same results:

1.) Rivera TBR-1 (rack unit)

2.) ADA MP1 preamp with an ADA B200S power amp

Cab: Marshall MG412A

Location: Chicago, Illinois

1.) No shipping damage whatsoever

2.) Power tubes are glowing

3.) Fan is operational

4.) Rack kit not installed

Great. Thanks for the feedback. Which amp rig were you last playing through when it was working?

I suspect that the ADA power amp may be an issue. That’s a SS power amp, and typically SS amps are not compatible with attenuation. See the safety instructions in the last few paragraphs of the owners manual on page 3.

Next step may be communicating with your dealer or sending it to the factory for a look.

Thanks,

Dave-

I bought the ps-100 strictly for the Rivera, as the ADA doesn’t need it, but tried it as the Rivera wasn’t working.

The ps-100 never worked, in terms of attenuation with the Rivera. I dimed the Rivera, put the switch to “operate,” and it didn’t do anything- no attenuation what-so-ever. Sound was still coming out of the cab at a high volume. Flipped the switch back to “bypass” and the sound coming from the cab was still at a high volume. Using the volume, presence and depth on the ps-100, while in operate mode, did nothing.

In that case, I would suggest contacting Levin’s and arranging for a replacement.
If you run into any issues there, please feel free to email me at support@fryette.com.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave-

Appreciate everything, I already contacted Levin’s and they sent me an RMA.
