Hi All - Quick question regarding the functionality of Line In on the PS-100. My PS-100 is connected via the Attenuator Loop of my KHE Amp/Cab switcher system. So whichever amp I select can be running through the PS-100. Very very useful setup!
What I’m wondering is if I can route the line out of my Marshall JMP-1 Rack Preamp into the Line In of the PS-100 while it’s connected through the Attenuator Loop of my switching system? The JMP-1 is not connected to a power amp, so I can’t run it through the switching system as it needs to receive a powered signal to distribute to whatever speaker cab is selected.
So where my unsureness lies is whether having the Amp In AND Line In connectors plugged in might cause some kind of conflict.
Hello, When your preamp is connected to the Line In jack, the signal at the Amp In jack is interrupted. We created the Cyclops to deal with this which makes it easy to keep them both connected but allows the user to switch between the two devices without having to re-patch them, see diagram on page 6 of the Cyclops user manual. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way. Cheers! Gil https://fryette.com/content/Cyclops_APS-1_Owners_Manual.pdf
Hello I just purchased the cyclopes for my ps1 I have connected as shown in the manual, the “line in” jack still interrupts the attenuator, amp only works in bypass on ps1. when i remove the “line in” cable the attenuator works. anything else i can try to get it to work no sure what im doing wrong
First, let me welcome you to the forum, it’s great to have you here.
Now, the Cyclops solves the issue with the line in and Line out on Power Station units. The signals are sent to the Cyclops and then switched accordingly to the proper places.
Can you send me a high quality and well lit picture of your set up and how it’s connected? It would make troubleshooting much easier.
Headrush into preamp in and preamp out (this function works fine)
guitar to input
amp input to engl powerball2 input
from ps line out to ps line out
from 2 ps line in to line in on ps
from engl 16 ohm out to amp in on ps100
ps100 speaker out to cab
when preamp light is on Headrush works fine. switch to amp, no sound. bypass ps 100 I can hear the engl amp, and i still have to switch ps100 low high button.
Looks like you have everything connected correctly.
Try turning the rear panel Line Level control under the Line Out jack all the way up. You’re going to need that to send signal from the amp back into the PS-100.
Thanks having the line volume all the way up on the ps100 fixed my issue! what position should the front level hi low button be selected on? It sounds best in the out low position but will i be amp my high power amp at that point?
That’s good. It doesn’t mention that in the manual because we ship the PS-2 and PS-100 with the line level control all the way up.
There’s no hard rule on the front panel level switch. It’s intended to make the PS volume convenient to use.
If your amp is 50 to 100W and cranked, you’re more likely to have that button pushed in so you don’t have to deal with an overly sensitive volume control that goes to 11 at around 8-9:00.
Under most normal circumstances though, just leave the button out.
