PS-100 direct into mixer without speaker for In Ear Monitoring: Which output?

Hi everyone! I go from my tube head speaker out into my PS-100 AMP IN and with LINE OUT BALANCED XLR into an OX Stomp Cap Sim and from there into a Powermixer (QSC30Touch). From the QSC30 I become the signal with In ear modeling headphone. Everything works quite well. Only exception I cannot use the two channels of my PS-100 for having two different sounds and two different volumes available. My question is if it is possible to use the LINE OUT instead of the LINE OUT BALANCED XLR from my PS-100 to get this solved without any damages to AMP or Mixer or PS-100? Thank you very much for your help in advance!

@MIC

Yes, line-out voltages are all around 1Vrms whether balanced or unbalanced. So it’s fine to do this. The advantage of using the balanced output is that it is isolated and this breaks ground loops.

But I’m actually not sure how this solves your problem… do you want to go from PS-100 > QSC30 and then route out to different devices? That might work.

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your answer! Yes from the QSC I go FOH and to my In ear headphones. My question is: When using the LINE OUT instead of BALANCED LINE OUT - are the two channels of the PS-100 active and I can adjust the sound of the two PS-100 channels?

Hi,

I think I understand better now. The Lineout signal whether it’s bounced or unbalanced is proportional to the master of volume on your guitar amp (I.e. to the amount of power being delivered to the reactive load).

The two channels on the PS 100 are controlling the volume level of the PS 100’s valve amplifier. Unfortunately, they are independent of the line out level.
