PS-100 dead - How do I get it serviced under warranty

Hi group! Similar to other posts, I was using the PS-100 with a preamp (Soldano X-88R) and delay in the efx loop. I heard a quick “phew” sound and it stopped working. I’m a GC employee (Music&Arts) and purchased this in December 2024 so I believe it’s still under warranty. I checked the mains fuse and it appears to be intact. I have not checked the internal fuse. How do I go about getting it fixed?

Thanks!!
Gary

Hi Gary,

Let’s get that top cover off and take a look at the internal fuse. Please take a detailed and well lit picture of the inside components about 12" from the top of the chassis. Also, can you please provide me with your serial number?

Thank You,

Terry

Hi Terry! Here are photos of the guts and SN.

Hi Gary,

That internal fuse does look burnt in the pictures. Can you verify that for me?

Thank You,

Terry

Hi Terry. If the silvery “arcing” next to the caps indicates burned then yes.

I mean the caps on the fuse. Thanks!!

Thanks Terry! What are the next steps?

Hi Gary,

A tube or tubes are likely bad. We cover the tubes for 90 days so this one is passed that mark. I would recommend changing out the tubes and the fuse. If something else is occurring past that, we can definitely get it in here for service. The tubes we use are JJ 6550 and a JJ 12DW7 in the PS-100. You may not need to change the 12DW7 PI tube at all. So just changing the Power Tubes should be good.

The fuse :

  • 250V 2A
  • Fast acting / Fast blow
  • 5mm x 20mm
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank You,

Terry
