I’m troubleshooting my LX II and wanted to check whether these symptoms still point mainly to the power tubes.
I use it in stereo and noticed one channel had lower volume and more hum. I swapped the power-tube pairs from side to side, and both the volume drop and hum moved with the lower-output pair, so I’m already replacing the power tubes and waiting for the new set.
I also had a regular popping noise during cold startup today, sometimes every 3 seconds and briefly as often as every second. The Depth LED pulsed in sync with each pop. It stopped once the amp warmed up.
The pop could be heard through either channel: if I put one channel in standby, it still happened through the active channel, and vice versa.
Could this still be caused by the worn power tubes or a shared bias/power-supply fluctuation, or does the fact that it happened through either active channel suggest a separate issue?
