Hi I’m trying to find the valve of this resistor. Its the R503 on the inductor board of an early 2015 power station. Steve said to post here as I asked this question on the last malcontents. Here is a pic of the blow. Resistor on the board. Thanks!
Hi Kevin,
I found the original post here: Original Powerstation flat/brite/edge switches not working - #5 by kevin996
Did you get the burnt connector fixed too? I am guessing you did not hear back from your email, or did they tell you to send it in?
There are a few revisions of the original Power Station, and they specify different values of this component! Do you see a revision number on the back or a serial number? That would help me give you accurate information. If it is a later model, after mid-2014 (which is it):
- R501 – 5R 5W
- R502 – 27R 5W
- R503 – 5R 5W
- R504 – 27 5W
If the pattern of the other resistors matches above, then replace your R503 with 5R 5W of the same length.
Hi Dan,
Thanks for getting back to me. That is the pattern for the rest of the resistors on that board so I think we have a match. Just in case the serial number is 140130. The board is rev1 2013 and the build date is May of 2015. From the solder on the board the R503 has been replaced in the past. I’m just going to replace all the resistors. That burnt connector is still there. The wires are fine. I removed them from connector and there was no damage. I have wrapped that connector with some thermal wrap and I will make sure the resistor won’t be resting on it again. I’m going to try the Dale wire wound resistors I think the footprint is a little smaller to allow some airflow around them. Thanks, Kevin
