Power Load IR - Audio processing blocked in Headphones (Unit stuck in Direct mode)

Hi Fryette Support,

I am writing from Italy regarding an issue with my Power Load IR (model without the physical Cab/Direct switch).

The internal memory was recently formatted (Slow Format, MS-DOS FAT, MBR map) and the unit correctly recreates the default folder structure. However, the audio processing seems stuck in “Direct” mode, bypassing almost all controls:

  1. Rotary Knobs & Buttons: The “IR Level”, “Air”, and “Bite” rotary knobs do NOT work. The small push-buttons in the analog section do NOT respond. The headphone sound remains raw and dry (no cabinet simulation).

  2. Toggle Switches: The only controls that seem to have an effect are the two 3-way toggle switches.

  3. Inputs & Routing: * The FX Return inputs work perfectly in stereo.

• The Program Input works (volume managed by source).

• The guitar signal from my JP-2C is audible in the headphones, but it’s completely dry and the volume is only managed by the amp’s Master Volume. The Fryette’s internal processing (IR/Analog EQ) is bypassed.

  1. Digital/IR Section: The preset LEDs light up correctly (solid LED), but the IR processing is not applied. Files are 24bit/48kHz and I used “dot_clean” on macOS.

It seems the internal digital/analog engine is “frozen” or disconnected from the main signal path. Is there a factory reset procedure or a specific power-on button combination to re-initialize the unit and unblock the controls?

Best regards,

Stefano

Hi Stefano welcome to the forum!

Could you have deleted the IR that come preloaded on to the unit?

Please send me a screenshot of the .wav files you can see when you connect the Power Load IR to your PC.

Either that or there is a problem with IR file format, we can easily fix that if that is the case.

Let’s start from there and work forward.
