Potential Issues with a 50/12 Combo, converted to a head

Hello all,

I recently bought the amp shown in the attached video. I got it for a song from Guitar Center. Serial Number is from 1995.

The tech in the video replaced a few components and is noting the tubes cannot seem to achieve a balanced bias. He thinks it’s an imbalance in the OT. There is, occasionally, some stray static too, but it isn’t constant.

Other than that the amp sounds good.

I’d like to keep it, but if I am in for a large $$$ repair, I may reconsider and return it.

Thoughts?

Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLHHKcJWBQE

Thanks,

Hey fetishfrog, welcome to the forum!

You probably have more to be concerned about the tech looking for problems that don’t exist than anything being amiss with the amp.

Looks perfectly fine from here.

If you’re playing through it and it sounds good, you probably are good.

Hehehe, that was definitely a possibility I considered, hence off to the experts.

Anyhow, I’ll keep playing it and report back if anything strange arises.

One more question.

On the off chance I have to replace the tubes someday, what are the bias specs for this amp?

Thanks,
