Open Box PS100 from MF - rattling inside (rounded screw)

Hi all. I just picked up an open box PS100 from MusiciansFriend. When it arrived, I could hear something rattling inside the chassis. I looked up the Youtube vid on how to open up to change the tubes. Inside, (near the fan), there was this black domed screw. I couldnt find any missing screw spots. Wondering if I should be concerned about this or if there’s other places to look.

I checked the fan, I checked the pcb area below the tubes, I checked the spots near the 50W3R3J . Should I be worried or could be why someone returned this openbox?

Welcome to the forum!

It’s possible that a screw went missing during assembly and was replaced with another one. We do have a shaking procedure to make sure there is no errant hardware left behind, but apparently, one squeaked through. My spologies for that.

From your description though, it sounds like you did about all the diligence that I would have advised. These are a bit overbuilt, so there is probably no circumstance under which one missing screw would cause any issues, let alone a major one except in the case of a loose one floating around. In your case that possibility seems to have been eliminated.

I’m pretty confident that you have nothing to worry about. If something does come up, please contact our inside support directly at support@fryette.com.

Thanks,

Dave

Thank you. Big fan of your work! A friend of mine has a PS100 in his setup and finally took the plunge and got one myself. Long overdue. Hooked it up and haven’t heard or noticed any issues. Appreciate the follow up.
