Noise when going line out to Nano Cortex

Hi,

I have an issue high pitch noise(probably ground noise) when using the line out from the PS2 to a Nano Cortex in order to capture the amp.
I assume these is a ground loop issue, because when I try to run the signal into another device and then into the Nano, and lifting the ground in the extra device, it solves the problem.

I was wondering if there is no option to ground lift the line out, as there is a ground lift button, but for some reason this lifting doesn’t solve the issue.

Hello, Sorry to hear about the ground loop issue you are experiencing. The best way to identify the cause of the noise is to start with just the PS-2 and one other component to see if the noise exists between those two units, then one by one add the other pieces of gear into the signal path and see which connection creates the noise. You’ll also need to scrutinize the electrical power sources and combinations therein that you are using to power the gear. Somewhere in there is the cause. Please let me know if I can assist you in any way. Cheers! Gil

I have a nano cortex and have run into this problem when interfacing it with multiple pieces of gear, load boxes etc…If you run it off a battery bank only, it should solve the problem. It’s a very noisy pedal in general. I’ve had noise issues even using it with a good power supply like a TrueTone CS11. D’Addario makes this little noise isolator dongle thing that I run in-line from my power supplies and it makes a world of difference. You might want to double check both the ground lift on your nano and your PS-2 and experiment with them. I just captured my 1976 2204 via the line out on the PS-2 the other night and it’s so much better than the capture I got with the Ox box I just sold.
