Fryette does not answer their phone and I have not received a response for my posted question a few days ago. Nor has my email to support had a response. Is there another way to contact them? I thought a boutique company would be better at customer service.
My brand new PS-2A has not worked once in operate mode since arriving last week, just silence. Any help appreciated before I return it and move on to a different brand.
It’s NAMM week. It would be good if they would respond, but they’re likely strapped right now. Can you share more about the problem? Have you verified your cabling and operation is correct? Have you followed their troubleshooting checklist?
Thank you both Jerrod and Dan, i can appreciate the NAMM week reasoning,
I have gone through the list for no sound and won’t switch to operate with no luck. I have not checked the internal fuse yet but should have time to open it up today.
I am using a 64 custom deluxe reverb with no line in/out or FX loop. Both impedance switches are set to 8 ohms, using the top speaker out port. I get sound with the unit turned off or in bypass mode, but all goes silent when i switch to operate. I have tried multiple speaker cables, now using live wire elite.
I can see the heater glow. I am guessing your internal fuses have blown. Please confirm.
If it is the fuses we can replace them, if the flow again I will ask the shop for some advice. They might decide to send out replacement tubes or the unit might need to be looked at. It’s quite unusual that new units need to come back to the shop – I cannot remember one instance actually. But sometimes tubes can fail after Fryette’s QA procedure and burn in.
Thanks Dan. There is continuity on the internal fuse that I could see, but it has an extremely thin coiled wire inside whereas the main fuse has a much thicker flat wire inside. Not sure if this is normal. Only saw the one internal fuse in the video. Is there another one somewhere?
I’m happy to try new fuses and/or tubes as long as it’s within the return window at guitar center.
OK, just to confirm, you got to the end of the NO SOUND checklist?
Do you have any spare tubes you can swap in?
It’s still in Warranty so you should contact Guitar Center, they will get you to return it to them. And they will either replace it or get it fixed (by Fryette).
Yes I went through every troubleshooting step I could find, other than replacing tubes/fuses as I don’t have any extras laying around. Will return to guitar center, how disappointing.
Yes, sorry, it’s super disappointing. There is a QA process before everything ships and burn-in and final listening test. Sometimes vibration in shipping can kill tubes, but this rarely happens actually. Last year we had a batch of 6550s that failed in the field but 6L6 were always rock solid. Hope for a fast turn around, let me know if I can help.
