As stated in title. I’ve used it a handful of times as a power amp for my Quad Cortex but haven’t in a little bit. Wanted to revisit it. Unit was purchased almost exactly a year ago, brand new.
Followed the manual for proper signal chain (modeller into line in, speaker out to cabinet (8 ohms in my case). Flip the standby switch, nothing. Unit powers on with no issue. Tubes look fine. Have tried multiple different speaker cables/patch cords/etc. It’s also not the cabinet, as my normal tube heads run just fine through it. Have not used this ps-100 extensively in anyway. Probably have barely broke it in haha.
So confused! Looking for some guidance. I absolutely adore this piece of equipment and want to get it running again.
That would indicate that the power amp is not power amping
This could be caused by a bad preamp tube or power tube.
If you are comfortable with a screwdriver and replacing tubes and fuses, check out this video and see if you would like to give it a shot. I’ll be happy to assist you.
I’m definitely comfortable changing those components! Would you suggest a specific tube? I’m assuming JJ’s will do just fine and much easier to get in this neck of the woods.
