Hello, I have my Frytette LSII with no output sound, I did verify the fuse and they’re all good all three of them. The unit was working before without any issue. Suddenly the output start dropping the volume. I’m using a wet dry wet rig so I don’t have a stereo coming out. Please any help will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Hi @Dr.D and welcome!
Do you know which side of the stereo rig is not working? You can do this by putting both channels into standby, then turning them on one at a time. Make sure both amps are loaded with a speaker.
Also, swap the speaker cable over from the channel that is working to the one that is not working. This will confirm it’s not a cabling issue.
How did you confirm the fuses? It’s best to check with resistance measurement.
This might turn out to be failing tubes on one side. If you open the unit and post one photo with the inside filling the frame, we should be able to advise further on replacement.
The unit was working perfectly before, I didn’t change nothing, it’s been working like that for almost a year, both channels are not working , without no issues and suddenly I don’t have output sound. But anyhow, I will try your recommendation, but that was exactly how I have my cables on unit. Ty so much and thank you so much for the reply.
It was more of a debugging step than a fix.
Anyway.
So the problem is on both sizes, that points more to a fuse issue. Can you the red glow from the tubes when turned on?
yes, they are working and I checked the three fuse from the outside and they look right
OK so we know…
- you can see red glow = main fuse not blown
- “I checked the three fuses from the outside and they look right” = probably the HT fuses are not blown either. – but can you double check that by replacing both of them or measuring their resistance?
- Both sides of the amp have no sound.
- You have swapped speaker cables for a known good one.
OK, finally just check the position of the impedance selector switch and the mono/stereo switch. It should be making good contact and is not inbetween positions.
Sorry if this sounds silly, but we need to get the most stupid possibilities crossed off.
I also asked for a photo, could you do that?
wow this is crazy, I just got home and I disconnected everything and connected back again. I did the swishing of stereo to mono also and I don’t know what’s happening, but it’s working perfectly again. That to me doesn’t make any sense but it’s working now, I will play for a little bit and I will text you if I have any other problems. Thank you so much for all the information and your time, you guys are amazing, and I can be more happier with Fryette.
Hmm
sounds like something unexpected like a cable or a switch got pushed in between positions. Usually one side will fail first in a stereo amp, so this was an odd one. But glad you are up and running. Sure, come back if strangeness returns.
