New PS100 made a loud laser noise and shut down

Just got a PS100 before new years. Have been loving it but the other day I was recording a video and it made a loud phaser/laser noise and then the sound cut out. My amp and cab are ok and work, but the PS100 won’t pass sound through. The green light and tubes glow when I flip power, but no sound when I flip the standby/operate switch. It was very hot on top too, it’s always a little hot but it was much hotter this time. I’m hoping it’s under warranty either through Fryette or musicians friend. Not sure who to go through for replacement or repair? I also see lots of these reports now upon joining the forum :frowning:

Hi Gonzo,

Yes, I think your suspicions are correct. Given what you said, I also think this sounds like the tube issues with the 6550s. I’m really sorry about this, but it seems the tubes need to be replaced. As you know, we have had a bad batch and updated our QA process and also worked with the tube manufacturer to do the same.

You are out of the 90-day warranty period for tubes, so the shop might say no, but they might also say yes.

Please fill in this form to ask for replacement tubes at least that starts the converstation.

Parts Request

Apologies again.

Thank you for the info! Will send the details in. And again the tubes ARE glowing when I flip the power switch, just no sound when I flip the operate switch. Also if there was a bad batch of ps or tubes, wouldn’t they compensate? I would hope so. I ordered brand-new dec30 so I got it early January. Seems like a really short time to have to pay for new tubes. I assumed the warranty covered stuff like this if it happened so early, so just trying to understand. No disrespect intended and thank you again for helping me figure this out. Hoping I get a good answer from them as I wasn’t expecting to pay more for this.

Also that link doesn’t bring me to a form, it’s a page telling me to post here in the forums with pictures of parts I need? It also is asking for a link to even take me anywhere. Just a heads up.

I just checked the link, it works.

It’s general form for requesting parts from shop. If you completed it already then that’s good. If not then try again and just add the parts that are relevant like you shipping address and where and when you got the units etc. or if you prefer to private message me those details I can handle it?

Thank you Dan! I’ll try again

This is what I get atm, what do I put in the blank field?

Ok Dan I figured it out, I added the url for this post and continued to the next page to fill out the form. When I hit send it took me back to the first page so I’m hoping my request went through. Would you mind checking for me?

Hi !

Thanks for giving it another go… I’m going to think about these improvements

Just wondering, after sending the repair request, do they email me back or contact me here in the forum?

Hi Gonzo,

The form contains everything we need to know. The shop usually lets @Gil know and then he might send you and email or write here when they are shipping.

I need to look into sending a confirmation email when the form is submitted.

Thank you for the info I appreciate it!

I still have not received any message from anyone about the PS100. Is there any other way to contact you guys aside from the forum?

Hey Gonzo,

I have contacted you with a private message.

Thank you for your help Dan! Got the pictures and info uploaded and sent in.
