Hello. I just got a PS2A this week. First thing I noticed is they left off the washers and nuts on toggle switches on front faceplate. Is this how they are made now? Hope not cause the switches are pretty loose and don’t feel solid.
Here is a pic of mine.
On instagram I noticed a whole pallet of PS2’s missing the same washers and nuts on front faceplate. I have emailed Fryette but haven’t heard anything yet.
Not all switches need nuts and washers; it depends on the type and mounting, etc. To me these look like the threadless type that just poke through as shown in the picture.
Well, it’s seems there is no thread on the switches I see that. Bummer, cause they actually move and do not seem very solid now.
Don’t worry, they are solid and will remain reliable.
The threaded ones were causing problems in assembly due to the alignment of the rear nuts and lock washers which could cause stress on the PCB. This new threadless bushing arrangement provides a secure component mounting without risk of stress on the board.
It’s also cleaner since there is no tool required to install the nuts which caused scratches on the panel.
I say new, but it actually started earlier this year, so there are lots of units in the field now with no issues being reported.

Ok yea I understand the reasoning behind it from manufacturer prospective. Maybe it’s my OCD. I always like a solid switch though regardless, and any way you spin it, it’s much more flimsy feeling seeing both switches move when flipping one switch.
Thanks for the quick reply.
