I received the new GPDI/IR this week and have been enjoying it so far! However, I was hoping a manual would be available, as I have some questions.
Are the FX loops identical? If so, why is one labeled “FX Return, FX Send” while the other is labeled “To Amp FX Return, From Amp, FX Send”?
Is the “Direct Out” on the GPDI/IR similar to the “Analog Out 1 Passive Full Range” on the PLIR?
If I want to send a direct signal—without cabs or IRs applied—to another device for cabinet simulation (e.g., Two Notes Opus) using an unbalanced line out, which output should I use? Is it the “To Amp Input”? To me, it’s not as clearly labled as it is on the PLIR.
Does the GPDI/IR require a speaker/load when the “Ext Amp” switch is engaged?
The FX return/FX send is your standard FX loop, placed after the GPDI preamp and the GPDI 1w power amp.
The “To Amp FX Return, From Amp, FX Send” are used to insert the GPDI preamp into another amplifier head or combo and allows to use the GPDI preamp through the other amp’s power amp OR bypass the GPDI altogether and play through the other amp normally.
Basically the GPDI preamp becomes another channel in your other amp (turned on/off using the “Normal or Ext Amp” switch). Check the Synergy Syn-1 or Syn-2 manual - it’s wired and works the same.
Hi Dan, thank you for your last answer, I got my Valvulator IR now, I tried it few times and again I have a question, there is something a little strange: if for example I use the IR output section ( balanced or not ) It seems that I have to select OUT at full left of Analog cab+mic section, right ? But I can select IN or OUT this is the same thing, the 3 buttons LOW MI, HI MID AND EMPHASIS have an influence on the sound of the IR, it seems that they have to be at noon to be right ( ? ), the AIR/BITE also change a little bit the sound of IR section. In reality it seems that both IR and ANALOG sections are not fully independent ! What do you think ?
According to the last Malcontents video aired last night, the manual should be out tomorrow… Late but Fryette have the best manuals in the business so I’m sure it will be worth it!
