I am using a modeling pedal into the FX loop of the PS100, yet I am not getting the amount of volume that I need. Could it be that I need a clean boost after the modeler into the PS100 to get the signal up to optimal levels?
Hey Bobby,
The FX loop has a Hi/Lo level button that toggles between industry-standard line levels. Just make sure the pedal is sending the correct level on the digital side. It should be more than capable of driving the FX loop. Any change if you inject into the Line In rather than the FX Return?
Hey Dan, if I plug into the line in it provides less volume than the fx loop. When I hit the fx loop button, the volume drops drastically.
Hi Bobby,
OK, this sounds very much like a digital volume control issue. The pedal is not sending enough signal. Try reading the user manual of the pedal and figure out how to increase the volume. Good luck!
Thank you, I will do that.
Can you please explain to me the normal functionality of the fx hi/lo button on the back?
Hey Bobby,
It sets the expected signal level inside the FX-Loop. The indented use is that you check what “level” the FX processors expects for it’s send and return jacks:
- Use the HI position for devices that say their line output level is between 0dB and +4dB.
- Use the LO position for devces that say their line output level is between -10dB and -20dB.
The reason this switch exists is there is no one agreed upon standard. There are two! So we accomodate both.
