LX II as two mono power amps

Can the LX II be used as two 50w mono amps separately so I can make use two GPDI-IRs? I love the amp, but there’s no channel switching and it needs more power for gigs. This seemed like a possible solution coupled with an isolated 1-in, 2-out switcher such as my Mesa Switch-Track. That said, I’m open to other suggestions for the front end and any ideas alternative to my dual mono LX II (hopeful) idea to achieve this. The GPDI-IR is a fantastic amp. So many uses, but as basic amp/preamp to just play - it’s so killer. I use a single unit on jazz duo gigs to full blown rock gigs (with a PS-100). It’s so good I’m willing to get a second one for a clean/crunch rig and drives for each amp to get to other gain stages.

Thanks in advance.

It’s a stereo / bridged mono power amp with separate inputs and outputs. So, kind of. It does not have separate volume controls for each I/O set. So, the technical answer to your question is no. But I’m not sure you care about that. You want to input two GPDI/IRs into each channel and amplify them to separate cabinets and switch between them. You can do that. You just will need to control your volume balancing on the GPDI/IR side since you can’t do it on the LXII side.

Hope that helps!

Right. All that. I guess I’m fishing to see if there’s a technical issue lurking the in shadows that would cause a noise issue. Namely, a ground loop. Another question is whether or not I can mismatch cabinets. Meaning, one side have an 8ohm load and the other have 16, for example.

Cab mismatch is fine since you set impedance per channel. There’s some really great info about the LXII in the manual if you haven’t checked it out…

LXII Manual

With an isolated switcher like that, I can’t imagine you would have a problem.

Sure did. I always read the manual before asking questions. It doesn’t address the application specifically. I’m confident my theories will work. Always good to get secondary takes on them though. Thanks man.
