Loss of top end on PS2

Hi, I have a PS 2 and run it with a Badcat Classic deluxe Combo(handwired Deluxe Reverb clone). I want to use so I can attenuate the volume for home use. I have a fairly simple pedal board in front of the amp with a couple of overdrives, fuzz, harmonic trem etc. I don’t run the amp hard, I just need it to be loud enough so its working properly (around 2.5 on the volume) unfortunately that’s way too loud lol. The amp probably doesn’t get much louder after 3, it just breaks up more…long story short, I use it more as a clean platform valve amp that I push with overdrive pedals.

Anyho, for some reason, I seem to be losing quite a lot of top end and its a bit mushy for me. Is there something I’m missing - when I go direct in to the amp it comes alive again?

I noticed that when I pressed the ground lift button, it helped a bit.

I have tried the “eq” settings, but actually have them on flat and the presence and depth on 0 (counter clockwise). I find they colour the sound more when engaged.

Any thoughts?

Thanks TG

Hey @Fatstav welcome to the community :tada:

I find using the non-flat controls makes the top end much more lively and fun, also setting the presence more in the middle might give you a bit more of a balanced top end.

Can you post an audio clip of the top end loss? An mp3 recorded with your phone would be fine. Do you also have a clip with “good” top end?
