Loose Resistor in the case

This was rattling around loose in my PS-2. Any suggestions? It still sounds fine.

It looks like a resistor from the reactive load part of the circuit, so it may still work but the impedance the amps sees will not be as designed. This will need a service. @Paul @JohnTheConqueroo would you recommend returning for a service?

And welcome to the community @ChrisW :tada:

Definitely return that for service. A local tech may be able to solve it, but I’d recommend sending it in to Fryette if that is an option.

Thanks guys, much appreciated!

You’ll probably notice that either the top or bottom voicing switch has lost one of its settings.

Check that and report back. Knowing if you lost a top end or low end setting will determine which resistor it is.

If that resistor still has its leads intact, you can solder it back on to the inductor board. But it got hot for a reason. Maybe it’s an earlier revision and needs an upgrade on that part.

Both voicing switches still function and the leads are intact. Thanks for helping out!

The toggle switches function properly, but it’s likely that either edge/bright or deep/warm positions will now sound identical. The flat position in both should remain unaffected because this resistor is likely to act as a shelving filter in the impedance circuit. Identifying the two positions that sound the same helps determine which resistor this is.

The edge/bright positions appear to sound the same.
