Just got an Ultra-Lead and am looking for info on it and a replacement foot switch

Hi–just got an awesome old Ultra-Lead off of Craigslist and it’s AMAZING, sounds incredible and I’m over-the-moon stoked about it. Only thing is the guy who sold it to me lost the original foot switch and I’m trying to get another–but I’m not sure what year it is and if the modern replacement would work for it. Can someone help me find out what year it is and if the modern Ultra-Lead foot switch on the site would work? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the community!

You need the PITTBULL FOOT CONTROLLER FC-1

This is out of production, unfortunately. I do not think there is anything complicated happening in the footswitch other than opening and closing switches. In principle this could be DIY-ed using latching footswitches. There might even be a compatible product on the market.

I am checking with the shop…

Dang, OK, I will keep an eye open on the used market. Also please let me know if there’s another compatible alternative out there, I would appreciate it@

Can you please count the number of pins on the footswitch DIN socket? I am checking if they have something…

Looks like 6

Were there any modern substitutions out there? or do I just need to wait to see if one pops up online?

Hi

I will ask the shop today and post a reply with some advice…

Awesome, much appreciated!

Hello

I’m really sorry about this – I checked with the shop. Unfortunately this has been discontinued for 20 years and we don’t have the parts any more. We are happy to provide you with a wiring diagram if you would like to make your own controller. The one we currently sell on the website is incompatible with the amp,

Good news!

I had a massive :brain: :dashing_away: this morning. I did a bit more digging and yes, we can make you a new FC-1!

It will be $146 USD + shipping.

Let me know if you want to go ahead.

Amazing!!! absolutely, I’d love to get one–let me know how to go about putting in an order and I’ll be happy to do so–thank you so much!!!

Hi,

I will send you a PM now about how to do this… It is not an item on the webstore so it’s a little different

Hello, I am a proud pitbull ultra lead Owner since 2001, would love to be able to purchase another foot switch. Please let me know if you can help, thank you

Hello Dan thanks for going out of your way on finding parts for the foot switch. I to bought a VHT UL Pit and in need of a foot switch for my touring rig. I was hoping that you might have the parts for another? I’ll happily pay in advance if needed sir. Thank you so much ether.

Hi @TheworstLV @MossMoss I am talking with @Terry about this. He will have a better idea of where the shop is up to with all this.

Thank you, I’m also looking in getting some parts the replace missing and broken on my UL head. Nothing crazy, just would like to know the best way about it.

Hi MossMoss,

For amps that are no longer in production like the UL this can be difficult, as the shop is very unlikely to stock them. And overtime the availability of parts changes and manufacturers make things obsolete. What are the parts you are after?

And regarding footswitches. The shop would need to do a custom run. I’m not saying they won’t. The best I can do is flag this post.

I would need the rear grill, handle cover/cap, and a corner guard. The amp was damaged/drop via shipping so I’m replacing those damaged parts. As for the midi switch I’m patient so when they’re ready that works for me.

Hello, I’m also in need of a footswitch for my Pittbull Ultra-Lead G-100-UL. I purchased it new from West LA Music back when Fryette was VHT (around 2007, I believe), and the store gave me the incorrect controller (FC-5). I tried for years to get it taken care of, but to no avail. I have an email chain with Kevin Parker trying to get it resolved, but it never happened for some reason, so I’ve been operating it manually all these years. I’d love to finally get the correct controller for my amp!

VERY IMPORTANT: please note that the correct controller is the FC-2, NOT the FC-1. This is according to the manual. The FC-2 is a 5-button controller with two switches, as seen in this Reverb listing.

If the shop doesn’t have the parts, I would appreciate it very much if you could provide the wiring diagram for the FC-2. I would be happy to do a small run of them for the other members who are interested.
