Jump in volume in FX loop

Using the footswitch to select FX loop gives an increase in volume, even if I use just a patch cable to connected to FX send and return. This jump in volume happens regardless of FX level button setting. The jump in volume seems to be around 6dB.
Please advise next steps?

Hey Mino,

Could you give some details about the footswitch? It can be a standard 2-function TRS latching footswitch, but the ring signal should switch the FX loop. I just want to make sure we are actually testing the FX loop and not, for example, switching the actual channels on the PS-100 (which are controlled by the tip signal). Are both channel volumes set the same (just to eliminate that)?

Regards,

Dan

Hi Dan, I’m using a Boss FS6 footswitch. next week, I will run both channels at same volume for testing and get back with the results. Most importantly, I hope all is well as can be from hearing about wild fires.
Cheers, Mino

Hi Mino,

That testing sounds good! Let me know when you have done it. Also, can I check these settings with you?

  • Ensure that both channels are in latch mode and
  • Experiment with the correct polarity switch setting.

Steve and everyone were all in good spirits when I spoke with him last week. Thanks for the concern!

Regards,

Dan
