I just want to make sure that in bridge/mono mode on the LXii I can run a single speaker cabinet. And do I turn on both standby switches when operating in this mode.
I know in traditional terminology bridging means running both sides of a power amp into a single output, but the manual doesn’t explicitly state that you can drive a single load. The fact that the impedance halves for mono mode implies that it is in fact bridged to one output, so this may be a dumb question, I just don’t want to damage the unit.
You only use the top input and output jacks in Bridge Mono mode.
However, both standby switches are set to Operate in order for both amplifiers to drive the single output.
On a SS amp you effectively run both channels in series.
In a tube amp, they are in parallel, which explains why the impedance is halved in Bridge Mono mode as indicated by the Impedance markings under the top impedance select switch.
Awesome. This is what I thought. My logic was that the switching scheme is similar to pulling two tubes on a 4 tube amp and doubling the load. This is how I’ve been running it so a major relief. Thank you for the quick response!
hello everyone,
thanks for asking the question!
i also had a doubt about it, i have the synergy syn5050 which is of similar design (except for the positioning of the presence and depth potentiometers).
when you activate/deactivate the standby switches of channels A and B,
is there an order to respect? or is it unimportant?
