Hi everyone. First time poster and extremely satisfied PS-2A user.
So I’m trying to use a Boss LS-2 as a line selector to switch between my RevivalDRIVE Compact preamp and Marshall SV20 + PS-2A, both going into an OX Stomp.
Basically:
Loop A: Guitar → LS-2 → SV20 → PS-2A → OX Stomp
Loop B: Guitar → LS-2 → RevivalDRIVE Compact → OX Stomp
I use the OX Stomp for cab simulation for both the preamp and the amp, then run the OX into my interface for monitoring/recording.
The problem is that when the SV20 is connected and turned on, I get a loud, high-pitched oscillation from the PS-2A loop. This happens even when the LS-2 is switched to the RevivalDRIVE path.
Everything works perfectly when used separately, but I can’t seem to eliminate the oscillation when everything is connected through the LS-2. The only thing that reduces it significantly is turning the SV20’s presence and treble almost all the way down, which obviously isn’t a usable solution.
Things I’ve already tried with no luck:
- PS-2A ground lift which reduces it slightly but doesn’t eliminate it.
- Silent attenuation with no speaker plugged in and no AC power reduces it slightly but doesn’t eliminate it.
- Walrus Canvas DI/LI with ground lift between the LS-2 and amp
- Using the PS-2A FX-Send instead of the line out
I’m wondering if this is some kind of grounding, isolation, or high-frequency oscillation issue caused by the way the LS-2 and PS-2A are interacting.
I’ve been considering something like the Morley Hum Eliminator, but it’s fairly expensive and I’m not sure it would actually address the problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions for making this setup work, or perhaps a better way of achieving the same A/B setup?
