Hi all, I am looking at using my amps again after sitting collecting dust. I have a kemper and a QC that both are my mains for recording and jamming etc. Once I started using these there was just no reason to use either my jvm410 or my mesa road king 2 along with my mesa 2x12 or 4x12 cabs as they were for most purposes just way too loud in my home studio and i got annoyed with moving cables around all the time. Then I came across the fryette amp switcher which opened a big ol can of worms. I have a rivera rock crusher but getting the amps say at 6 I could not attenuate this enough. So that got me looking at the ps100 and ps2a. It was interesting that I could use that for a direct in and also as an amp for my modelers. Realistically the ps2a is plenty fine but EytschPi42 in his review was using the 100 with two amps which I thought was brilliant. So this brings me to my questions finally…
- With either unit can you get a cranked head down to practice and wife friendly levels? I am not talking about on 10 but rather say a 6..
- With the rack unit, is there a suggestion on rack placement strategy and is heat a big issue and does it primarily dissipate off the top?
- Does it run hot? I will attach a pic of my studio desk. I am thinking i would rack it on the top 2u of the lower right rack with nothing above it. There is maybe a 1.5" gab to the pull out shelf and I worry the heat could case the shelf to warp or discolor. I usually keep the QC there.
- Is the unit generally quiet without any hum?
Thanks in advance.
