The PS-2A is loosing the signal when amplifying Line-In signal (coming from UAFX Lion) and sending it from Amp Out to the cab (8 Ohm) during operation.
When powering up, the PS-2A starts off working perfectly well. After approx 1 hr. playing, the signal gradually gets more and more interrupted with lower volume and a bit distorted until it dies more or less completely. Same behaviour on the next day. When I change the input from Line-In to Amp-In using a Marshall 1987 the PS-2A works completely fine.
Nothing in FX loop, Input Level was set on Hi with Volume at 12 o’clock, fan works, nothing stacked on top of PS-2A.
I have some basic electronics knowledge and could change components or check with some guideance where and how to look myself or where to ask for service in or near Berlin, Germany.
Thanks for any help! Cheers, Spoky
Hello and welcome to the Fryette Forum Spoky! I’m recommending that you verify the signal from your UA pedal is not the culprit, maybe a bad cable or power supply? Try using a different source device to feed the Line In of the PS-2A as a trouble shooting test then let me know if that turns up anything. Then we’ll go from there. Thanks! Gil
Hi Gil, thanks for your feedback. I minimized the signal chain in front of the PS-2A, changed all cables, and also tried a different modeller (UAFX Dream). When i switched to the real amp, i left the rest of the signal chain untouched, i.e. the UAFX remained in the chain and just deactivated the modeller (no lights on the Lion or Dream). I also checked that ventilation was not obstructed and turned all pots and switches on the front of the Fryette.
