When approaching the power amp, it hums excessively when within a foot or so. I believe this is a known issue but its there any fix or grounding I can do? Do just back the f— up!?!

This will probably depend on the gain and volume settings but it’s pretty much inevitable. Especially if you have single coils (If you have low quality pickups you can even get uncontrollable howl near a guitar amp as my 17 year old self discovered — my first electric guitar had horrible cheap electronics, we all start somewhere).
It’s basically magnetic fields lines from the amps power transformer cutting across the pickup windings.
