Hello,
I recently purchased a Cyclops and footswitch from an authorized dealer. The Cyclops alone works just as it should. When I plug in the foot switch, it works intermittently. It seems to be dependent on the position of the plug on the foot switch cord, and how far it is plugged into the jack. When pushed all the way in, it does not work. When pulled out slightly, it may work properly. The working position is not indexed, and not reliable. I don’t know if it is the switch or the Cyclops that is at fault. I have contacted the reseller. I am posting here to see if there is any trouble shooting I can perform to narrow down what may be at fault? Thank you.
We need to see it’s the Cyclops, the cable or the footswitch.
Any TRS latching footswitch or TRS cable will work with the Cyclops. So that would be the first thing. I would suspect that. It could be an intermittent connection with the Cyclops jack but I would suspect the cable or footswitch first.
The only other foot switches I have are the GPDI/IR foot switch, and a little Mesa Fillmore 25 foot switch that is single button, but it uses a regular TS instrument cable.
Could I plug in a TRS cable, and literally short across TR or TS or RS and actuate the Cyclops as a test?
Thanks!
SOLVED!
The Cyclops foot switch is TS, not TRS. My Mesa Fillmore 25 switch turns out to work the same. I tried that foot switch with the Cyclops, and it worked as designed, switching between amp and preamp on the Cyclops.
The authorized dealer is going to replace the existing foot switch with a new one. I’ll post a follow up once I have the new one and test it. Thank you for all of your help!
Right you are!
9. REMOTE – Connect this jack to a single button latching footswitch to remotely select between your amp and preamp.
