I’ve seen the generic tube recommendations in other topics. I’d like to ask what current production power tubes/EL34s you’d recommend for the Pittbull CL100.
It currently has Ruby EL34BSTR.
The manual recommends Mullard 34B, Svetlana EL34, or China EL34B.
My research shows Ruby/China EL34BSTR is in production. Same American company/Russian factory New Sensor makes Mullard EL34, Svetlana EL34 and Tung-Sol EL34B.
Svetlana 34 may be the same? Would you recommend Mullard EL34 or the Tung-Sol EL34B?
same factory doesn’t mean the same tube. one factory will have different tooling for different tube “makes.”
I’ve not tried the tung-sol el34s in my 50/cl, but I have tried new (well, 10-15 years ago) production mullards, svetlanas, and ruby STRs, and the mullards do seem to be performing the best. at least, I haven’t felt the need to change them out for a veeeeery long time.
still curious to hear what the boss man’s/fryette shop’s recommendation are for these amps these days, tho.
